Family Style Properties

Our Homes

We have six children’s homes registered to accommodate up to four male children/young people between the ages of 11 – 18 who have histories of trauma, disrupted attachments and harmful sexual behaviour. The homes operate 24 hours a day, 52 weeks a year.

Each home is a family style property situated in Berkshire and is not distinguishable from other houses in the area. The homes are all located close to transport links and with access to local amenities including shopping and a multitude of both outdoor and indoor leisure activities.

Our staff teams provide an outstanding quality of care. 100% are currently rated by Ofsted as ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’.
Our most recent reports can be found at the following links:

Our Boy’s Lives

Life At Swaay

Outside of the education day, the children/young people at Swaay are encouraged to engage in the following:

  • Fun activities at the home with staff and/ or other young people.
  • Community leisure activities supported 1-1 by staff, or along with other boys in the home.
  • Attendance at community clubs e.g. sports or youth clubs.
  • Phone calls or visits with family members/ significant others as agreed with the Social
  • Worker and Independent Reviewing Officer.
  • Developing independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning.
  • Key Work sessions exploring any current issues or matters supporting the young person’s holistic therapy programme.

We recognise that the work our young people engage in with their therapists can be extremely challenging, so the home team support this work but also ensure there is plenty of time for fun and relaxation. Each year, the children/ young people are supported to go on a holiday with the team. This is a fantastic opportunity for ‘letting off steam’ and also for creating memories and further building relationships and a positive sense of self.
